ASIAN SKINHEADS
And so it seems that there are now skinheads in Asia. Indonesia specifically. And before we marvel at the inherent irony of such a situation, no, they are not racist skinheads, but 1980's-London-working-class skinheads.
The working class skinheads, from whom all skinheads can attribute their mitochondrial DNA (not really), were essentially started by the gruff and disenfranchised British working class of the 70s and 80s and like all trends, snowballed into something notorious when some members of their ranks took to blaming immigrants for a lot of their problems and set out to "change their minds" about staying in the UK. This aggressive image that became associated with them led to racists and neo-nazis in North America adopting the skinhead style, which they used to intimidate. Anyway, one thing led to another and now they're gearing up for a racial holy war or something equally tacky.
Even then, it seems a little strange, considering how new Indonesia is to this whole popular culture thing. But I guess that in being young and disenfranchised while being introduced to movies and television from bygone eras that feature characters in the same predicament, the Indonesians found something they could understand and identify with. In general, the skinhead archetype looks and even sounds pretty cool (original form only), but like everything known by more than two people, it has be warped.

According to historian Shlomo Zand, the histories of Israel and the Jewish people have both been orchestrated, exaggerate, and manufactured in order to establish the state of Israel. These writings are extremely controversial, and I don't necessarily believe or agree with him, but knowledge is power and it's always fun to learn how and why people think the ways they do.

There's a Powerpuff Girls anime out there. Yep. And not just a more anime-stylized version of an already anime-influenced show, but and actual living (although not really), breathing (although not really), original anime series out of Japan that takes aspects of the initial concept, as well as some character design aesthetics, and turns it all on it's head. And its awesome.

Tim Burton and Timor Bekmembatov (Wanted, Day Watch, Night Watch) are producers and it's directer by Shane Acker.
I'm not going to ruin it for you. Just look for it in theaters on 9/9/09.

Take everything that was ever awesome about Cartoon Network's multiverse and put it all in a blender with Jimmy Neutron-esque CG and modified character design and you will be pretty close to Cartoon Network's new MMORPG, Fusion Fall.
So far it looks like you create a moderately original character to serve as your avatar as you attempt to save the world (before bedtime, hahaha) (<== That was a Powerpuff Girls reference) from some sort of fusion monsters, possible from some unholy union between characters of different series. I'm pulling this out of my ass. I don't know what the deal is withthe fusion monsters. All I know is I already registered and I'm going to be playing.

YELLOW RAGE
While scouring Youtube for clips of Def Poetry performances to pirate, I came across a performance by Yellow Rage, a spoken-word duo from Philadelphia, PA.
Yellow Rage do pieces about what it's like to be an Asian in various situations, plus voice comedically harsh, yet thought-provoking views about the identity that is forced on Asians in the U.S. and the way other people interact with them. Good shit.

BLACK LIGHT (UV) TATTOOS
I've always thought this idea was cool. A tattoo that noone can see unless it's under black. You could have an elaborate tattoo with an even more elaborate layer underneath that could only be seen under the right conditions. But everytime I came across a UV tattoo, they were always really simple designs...until now. I stumbled across this during one of my random sweeps of tattoos online via Google Image Search. Very cool idea, very well executed.
